You were lucky, I was born in the 60's and was also diagnosed as an idiot based on my ADD and total disregard for conventional education. I did my first IQ test in 1981...nothing changed for me, because by then I was an adult and IQ tests are meaningless. The real sign of intelligence is not how fast we are in comparison to a machine, because based on standard IQ tests, every basic computer with a neural network will score an IQ of 10000. EQ is the real test, but even more than that, the human ability to be "smart" in social environment is the ultimate sign of intelligence. Well, it does help to have a high IQ too, but within the norms, the real clever ones are not the ones with pieces of paper, but the ones that are happy with their lives, irrespective of how others perceive them.
