What is missing from the various theories is not the light wave and particle, but the environment that these "matters" exist within. The so called matter between matter or matter that contains all matter. Some call it black matter, others call it the ether, but it is the matter in which the universal bodies are contained within. Now consider light as you would consider an object that is immersed in a sea of water. The object will move according to the laws of water, in other words, if the object has propulsion it will move at a rate and direction that can be affected by the environment. Light too moves within the material universe and takes on the same proportionate and relational aspects but instead of being an object in water, it is a packet of light (particle/wave) that moves according to the environment. Since we have not yet the means to discern the environment, we cannot arrive at a conjecture as to how the packets of light are affected by them. So, to conclude, we know how a submarine, a fish, a piece of debris might move in water, since we understand water. We do not know what light really is because we do not know the environment in which it moves. Once we understand the environment we will be able to discern what light actually is.
